The Disability Resource Fair is The Arc of Adams County’s largest community event of the year. It is a free, accessible gathering that brings dozens of trusted resources directly to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and the families who support them. Attendees connect face-to-face with the organizations, programs, and experts that help people with IDD and their caregivers across Adams County navigate complex systems and plan with confidence at every stage of life. In April 2026, the fair welcomed approximately 100 community members and 44 vendors and exhibitors, and the room was full of energy from start to finish.

The fair brings together more than 40 organizations spanning education, health care, government, legal, and nonprofit sectors. Attendees can connect with local government agencies and Adams County human services, the library system, nonprofit disability service providers, self-advocacy voices like Speaking for Ourselves, and attorneys who specialize in guardianship, supported decision-making, and special needs trusts and estate planning. Alongside the exhibit hall, breakout information sessions draw engaged crowds and lively Q&A on topics identified by the IDD community, including public benefits, guardianship, estate planning, employment and transition supports, Medicaid and waiver updates, and special education advocacy.

Families tell us that navigating disability services can feel fragmented and overwhelming, especially during major life transitions. The Disability Resource Fair exists to change that, gathering trusted information in one place, encouraging questions, and creating room for real conversation. Held in a familiar, accessible space owned by the local school district, the fair is designed to feel comfortable for the people it serves, and attendees leave better equipped to make informed decisions and access the support they’re entitled to.

This reflects what The Arc of Adams County believes: everyone is a valued, contributing member of their community, and we accomplish more together through our collective voice. Join us at the next Disability Resource Fair on Thursday, April 8, 2027, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Educational Service Center in Thornton, Colorado.
