Speaking For Ourselves is a self-advocacy group made up of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who come together to connect, grow, and make their voices heard. Members lead the group themselves – setting the agenda, shaping the conversations, and building a community where every person belongs and every voice matters.
Whether you’re looking for meaningful connection, a space to develop your advocacy skills, or simply a group of people who get it, Speaking For Ourselves is that place.
What members do together:
- Socialize and build friendships at regular events
- Learn from guest speakers on topics that matter to them
- Participate in self-advocacy and community engagement
- Support and champion one another

Every child with a disability is a superhero. And every family guiding them deserves a community that understands the journey.
Familias Guiando a Superhéroes con Amor is a Spanish-speaking support group for families raising children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Led by the families themselves, this group is a space to share experiences, find encouragement, share resources and information, and to know that you are not alone. Because raising a superhero is extraordinary work, and it’s easier when you have people in your corner who truly understand.
What the group offers:
- A welcoming, culturally connected community for Hispanic families
- Peer support and shared experiences from families who understand
- Information and resources for navigating life with a child with IDD
- Connection to The Arc of Adams County’s broader network of support
