The Arc of Adams County offers a variety of advocacy supports for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families. Advocacy support can assist an individual and/or family to address needs and speak to concerns/issues involving the person with the I/DD. Our advocacy support can involve intervention, outreach, technical disability-related assistance and direct advocacy services for individuals birth through adulthood. Individual advocacy may include the following areas:

  • community resources
  • disability-related services/benefits
  • education (general education and special education)
  • health care and family support

The Arc of Adams County does not provide direct legal assistance or representation. However, we are the only agency in Adams County that provides conflict resolution/intervention for persons with I/DD. The utilization of our services may prevent costly legal fees for many individuals and families. The Arc of Adams County advocacy services are focused in three areas: Individual Advocacy and Family Support, Systemic and Policy Advocacy, and Community Training.

We are also hoping to start an Adult Sibling Group. Both groups are/would be facilitated by a licensed therapist and free for participants.
